Local Commerical Scanning Sources

 
 

Media Resouce Center (MRC)

The MRC is a Self Service Facillity

These are the scanners currently available to UCI faculty, staff and students in the MRC:


Epson Expression 10000XL- Photo Scanner
Software: Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended
Handles: photographs and documents

Epson Perfection 4180 PHOTO Scanner
Software: Adobe PhotoDeluxe 2.0 and OCR Basic Software
Handles: photographs and documents

HP Scanjet 7650 Document Flatbed Scanner
Software: Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended and HP office document management software
Handles: photographs and documents

We also have two Epson Perfection V700 Photo scanners currently available to UCI faculty.

UCI staff, UCI students and community users may use the scanners in the Microforms area on Langson's first floor. These handle photographs, slides, documents, microfilm, microfiche, aperture cards and opaque micro cards

About the MRC

  • Priority for use of the MRC viewing stations is given to UCI students, faculty and staff.
  • UCI students, faculty and staff must have a valid UCI Libraries card in hand to check out MRC computers for 2 hours at a time for individual use for academic purposes. Selected MRC and U.S. Depository CD-ROMs may be checked out and used at the MRC GID stations with a valid UCI Libraries card, California Driver's License, US Passport, US Military ID, or other official state's photo ID.
  • Due to licensing restrictions, MRC multimedia creation computers and specialized software are only available to UC Irvine students, faculty, and staff
  • MRC consultants are available to help users with MRC software and hardware problems.
 

Interactive Learning Center (ILC)


In the ILC, we have two scanners available to UCI students, faculty and staff only:

HP Scanjet 7650 Document Flatbed Scanner with Automatic Document Feeder
Software: Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended, OmniPage Pro 14, and HP office document management software
Handles: photographs and documents
This is connected to a PC.

HP Scanjet 7490c Document Flatbed Scanner with Automatic Document Feeder
No current link available; product discontinued
Software:  Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, Adobe Photoshop CS4 Extended and HP office document management software
Handles:  photograps, documents and slides
This is connected to a Macintosh.

In the SL Grand Reading Room we have two scanners available to all patrons:

The Department of Technology provides technology-rich facilities enhance the educational experience at the School of the Arts.

Image Works

ImageWorks is operated by the School of Biological Sciences at UCI.  ImageWorks is a research support unit which specializes in digital imaging, photographic and copy services.
